Results for the weekend of 12th & 13th June
June 14, 2010
The last weekend turned out to be a game of two halves as all three Saturday sides secured impressive wins whilst Sunday resulted in one loss and an abandoned game.
1st XI v Southwell (away) SNCL Division A
Another fine win for the side following on from their comprehensive victory over Long Eaton the previous week; skipper Scott Bailey won the toss and decided to field first and will have been more than happy to have bowled them out for 101 in just short of 45 overs. All four bowlers used took wickets – Brad with 2-29, Scotty 2-40, Alex Sheriston with 2-10 but the stand-out figures came from Ben Thompson with 3-12 from 8.4 overs.
As with Long Eaton, a rapid eight wicket victory was secured to bag all 20 points with Thommo again leading the charge with an unbeaten 55 supported by Ben Milnes with 25 not out.
Plumtree are now in fourth place in the table but only 0.7 points separate the top four; the latest copy of the league table can be downloaded by clicking here – Division A. A full scorecard for this game can be found by clicking here.
2nd XI v Kirkby Portland (home) SNCL Division B
The success story continues for Tappy’s boys as they chalked up another impressive win. Batting first on losing the toss, the visitors were bowled out for 164 in exactly 48 overs with Matt Milnes again impressing with 4-52 and two wickets each for PK (2-28) and Robbie Smith (2-23).
Every week, someone puts their hand up in this side to see the team home and on this occasion it was skipper Rob Tapp with an impressive 64 not out who secured a three wicket victory. This win lifts this team to the highest position that they can ever achieve – i.e. top of Division B (as Division A is open only to club 1st XIs) and the latest league table can be downloaded by clicking here – Division B and the full scorecard from the game can be found here.
3rd XI v Stapleford (Colston Bassett) – SNCL Division L
The mosat outstanding and individual perfomance of the day came at Colston Bassett where the 3rd XI thumped Stapleford by 8 wickets; nothing remarkable there until you realise that the opposition were all out for just 24 in 15 overs. It gets better – Keith Sheriston took 9-11! The only downside was that the opposition only had 10 players and Keith therefore missed out on the opportunity of a 10 for!
The thirds are now in second place in Division L, just 0.1 behind Radcliffe – the latest league table can be downloaded here – Division L and the scorecard from this game can be found by clicking here.
Sunday 1st XI v Sleaford (away) Newark Alliance Division 1
The long trek to Lincolnshire was not a successful one as Sleaford took the points with a 2 wicket win. Brad won the toss and batted first and we scored 188 all out in exactly 40 over with Sam Storey getting 50 and Alamgir Khan 38.
Sleaford managed to overcome this total in the last over for the loss of 8 wickets with Ben Gathercole taking 3-23 and Matt Snelgrove and Chalky two wickets each. The scorecard from this match can be found by clicking here and the divison one table here.
The Sunday 2nd XI game v Clumber Park was rained off before ity concluded and full details on this game will be provided in due course. The Division 4 table can be found by clicking here.
