First Round win in SNCL T20

May 20, 2010

Man of the Match Nigel Finney

The club secured a victory in the first round of the SNCL T20 competition for the Simon Trafford Trophy this week.  Drawn away at Kirkby Portland, Scott Bailey’s side secured a solid 9 wicket win in fading light to progress to the next round.  Losing the toss, we bowled first and the taking of a wicket with the first ball set the scene.  In a game reduced to 16 overs per side, Kirkby Portland were restricted to 83 for nine with headline figures being returned by Nigel Finney (3-17) and Matty Milnes (1-12 from 3).

In fading light, Steve James and Nigel set about the Division B club’s bowling and despite losing Nigel for 22, cruised to a good win in less than 12 overs with Tewy ending the game with a massive six.

This weekend sees the first game in the National Village Competition with a home draw against Normanby Park from Lincolnshire at the PCG starting at 2.00 pm on Sunday.
