SNCL & Newark Alliance Rule Changes for 2010

January 30, 2010

Both the South Notts Cricket League (SNCL) and the Newark Alliance have held their Annual General Meetings for 2010 and there are some rule changes to note for cricket on Saturdays and Sundays in the coming season.

SNCL

A number of clubs, including Plumtree, wanted to introduce changes to make match regulations more in line with Premier League regulations; therefore in 2010, strict leg-side wides and fielding restrictions will apply to all SNCL matches in Divisions A, B and C; the maximum number of overs per innings remains at 48 and the proposal that these over be bowled in 2 hours and 50 minutes was overturned.

The new rules will be included in the 2010 League Handbook which will shortly be available.

Newark Alliance

The key change here relates to the maximum number of overs allowed per bowler; this was previously limited to 10 but with effect from this season, this will be reduced to 8 or a maximum of 20% of the innings length if the duration of the game is reduced.
