Leading the County

Colts Registration Evening & ECB Clubmark Re-Award

Friday’s colts registration evening was superbly organised and attended with probably the largest number of people ever seen at the club; this was in no small part down to the supreme efforts of Dave White, Rosemary Dove and the junior committee and the number of junior players present (and their parents) bodes extremely well for the clubs playing and social future.

The highlight of the evening was the re-presentation to the club of the ECB’s Clubmark award by Keith Tongue and Luke Fletcher of Nottinghamshire CCC; Keith made the presentation to club chairman Mark Oldham and welfare officer Rosemary Dove and congratulated the club on its efforts in securing again this highly regarded award.  Keith commented that Plumtree was the first club in the county to have it’s Clubmark renewed for a further three years; this is an outstanding achievement and ensures that the club provides a safe and secure environment for cricketers of all ages and sexes.  It will also be a minimum standard for membership of the Nottinghamshire Premier League with effect from the 2010 season and the club should be extremely proud that it is leading the development of cricket in the county in this way.

As further recognition of this achievement, Keith Tongue also donated a bat signed by the entire Nottinghamshire CCC 2009 squad and also provided a number of tickets to a future Friends Provident match at Trent Bridge.

The driver behind this re-award is without doubt Rosemary Dove and club chairman Mark Oldham said “This club is very lucky to be served by a large number of volunteers who put in a staggering number of hours of effort, often without recognition or reward and Rosemary’s efforts in achieving this prestigious re-award are a fine example.  On behalf of the club and committee, I would like to thank Rosemary for her continued efforts in keeping us at the forefront of providing a proper environment in which to enjoy the club’s facilities.”

The club would also like to thank Keith Tongue and Luke Fletcher for attending the event and for the time that they dedicated to us; we would also like to wish Luke all the best for the coming season, with perhaps a small exception should he play against Plumtree!
